Al Wasl Nursery is a custom-built place for education located in Dubai. The nursery is offering an opportunity for kids to connect with architecture and discover urban furniture in a playful way. This is a place where kids gain independence and connect with their environment. The organic architecture mixing traditional elements and modern techniques makes this nursery a natural habitat for Dubai’s kids.

Just like an old barjeel - the old Arabian wind tower - the tent’s main purpose is to cool down the air entering the nursery.

Made with perforated tensile fabric that has cool water sliding through it, the tent cools down the air entering as it passes through the fabric. The perforation in the tent filters out sand and dust as well. The nursery remains cool and enjoys cleaner air. This energy saving will be perpetuated as the water used will go towards maintaining the landscaping around the tent.

The nursery has no dedicated drop-off area. The learning process is an organic one, thus kids decide themselves where to let go of their parent’s hands.

The roof of the nursery is utilised as a playing area with a giant swing and two playgrounds. The swing makes the nursery attractive for kids, it is their first place of socialisation in the morning and makes it pleasurable to go school for everyone.

From the bridge, parents can see their kids proudly showing off their skills.

In the learning area, foldable walls make the re-arrangement of the space easy and instinctive.

Wooden floors and large bay windows stimulate the little’s one creativity, that almost forgot they were in a classroom.
